Synopsis from Goodreads:
Maise O’Malley just turned eighteen, but she’s felt like a grown-up her entire life. The summer before senior year, she has plans: get into a great film school, convince her mom to go into rehab, and absolutely do not, under any circumstances, screw up her own future.
But life has a way of throwing her plans into free-fall.
When Maise meets Evan at a carnival one night, their chemistry is immediate, intense, and short-lived. Which is exactly how she likes it: no strings. But afterward, she can’t get Evan out of her head. He’s taught her that a hookup can be something more. It can be an unexpected connection with someone who truly understands her. Someone who sees beyond her bravado to the scared but strong girl inside.
That someone turns out to be her new film class teacher, Mr. Evan Wilke.
Maise and Evan resolve to keep their hands off each other, but the attraction is too much to bear. Together, they’re real and genuine; apart, they’re just actors playing their parts for everyone else. And their masks are slipping. People start to notice. Rumors fly. When the truth comes to light in a shocking way, they may learn they were just playing parts for each other, too.
Smart, sexy, and provocative, Unteachable is about what happens when a love story goes off-script.
This is a student-teacher romance novel that will make you feel lots of emotions..lots and lots of it.
I love how the book started..the main characters meeting in a carnival (of all places…lalala). It was all like sparks fly and love at first sight for them but Maise knows that she couldn’t let herself get attached. She’s got loads of problems to deal with her life. So, she got scared and ran away. Little did she know that the man she felt instant attraction with..is her new film class teacher.
These two are one of the most intense characters that I’ve read in New Adult. They cling to one another so hard that you’ll feel their need to belong with each other. As you read along, you’ll feel the thrill that they were having..as well as they’re downs in their relationship. All throughout the book, I was thinking that Evan would cheat on Maise. But yeah, my predictions don’t turn out right. Lol.
It was enjoyable to read about love, life, friendship, and loss. The other characters in the book are very much interesting. Wesley was such a good friend though he did something unforgivable, just kidding but yeah… ;). There was a point in the story when I thought Maise was actually going to end up with him but like I said wrong predictions.. Lol.
It felt as if it was such a long journey that I had with Maise and Evan. I started from Maise being the teenage girl that she was up to the maturing young lady that she starts to become. I appreciated how she remained strong despite all obstacles. I love how she found her way back to Evan and made a new life for herself.
Oh and how could I forget all those steamy and intense scenes that Maise and Evan had..(fans myself).
Other than those stuff..I was just pleased with the way the novel ended.
